The barrel is out of spec which is a high concern based on Ice Arms reputation/prior problems. The rail/upper alignment is not level and the tabs appear slightly bent on the rail but this should not effect how straight the barrel appears (left/right, etc).Ģ. Personally i think there are two issues.ġ. I do have an extra (used) MI gen 2 SS Barrel nut and would be happy to mail it to you if you want to cover shipping. That being said i'm not a fan of how this rail attaches to the barrel nut/upper. MI makes a stand up product and has great customer service/support. It does look like you may have overtorqued the screws on the bottom of the handguard which can cause the taps on the handguard to bend very easily. Obviously the factor could be the barrel or the handguard or its possible its both. But if your not wanting to help just let me know and I'll return the rail and sell the upper receiver. I think replacing the barrel nut first would be the next step to take in troubleshooting. So Andy swapped it out with another one that has a good finish on it.īut again, who knows.

Even after a full degreasing it was the same. I opened the box to find the left wall of the receiver had a smooth, polished surface. By the way Troy, this upper was a replacement that Andy sent me after I returned one with a defective finish that I ordered from Primary Arms months ago. Unless maybe the MI billet upper receiver isn't square. I've tried everything I could that other members have suggested and the barrel appears straight from what I can tell, after using two different straight edges on it.
I was hoping/thinking the barrel nut because after a bunch of trouble shooting it seems to lead back to that. But neither you or I know exactly what part the issue is being caused by. If your going to get bent out of shape because there could be a potential problem with one of your barrel nuts, rails, whatever, then I may just not even bother looking for solutions and I'll just go with someone else's product. And what does it matter if you guys respond on here or through email? Once again, this was public PRIOR to my emailing MI. It sounds like your upset that this was public before you could respond to the email. I did that to get some ideas on what the problem could be before contacting you through your website. What? I had this thread up about 40 or 45 minutes before emailing you. I've already emailed MI and asked if they'll send me a new barrel nut, while I also referenced this thread for them to view the pics. After one or two turns I can see the front of the rail walk over to one side. Again, everything is straight until I start tightening the first bolt on the rail. The top rails are lined up perfectly when the rails anti rotation tabs are set in place with the barrel nut.
I could but think I'd just be wasting my time. I have a Kak flash can that is just inside the end of the rail and there is only.
I put a carry handle across both pieces and while holding the rail back against the barrel nut I tightened the carry handle. I think what he was trying to say is that when you were tightening the rail did you have anything that held the two top sections of rail together such as a carry handle or scope mount that would touch and hold both the rail and upper receiver rail sections together. Does anyone know a MI username for someone I could contact about sending me a new barrel nut? Trying a new barrel nut would probably solve it, as much as I don't want to have to swap it out. I've just had it in a regular aluminum upper receiver vice block for most of the build. Did you use some kind of mount to bridge the hand guard and receiver when you tightened the pinch bolts up?
