This is your chance to get your hands on a very cool sought after model from Univox Japan. The frets are clean- just profesionally set up with action of 3/32" at the 12th fret. This is in excellent overall condition- there are the typical marks you expect on a piece of this vintage as well as oxidation on the chrome but nothing that adversely affects the tone or playability whatsoever.
The look here is stunning- deep sunburst finish, multi-ply neck binding, and chrome hardware. This Univox also has the Japan vibrato(non original bar/screw) so you can recreate your favorite pitch effects. The fingerboard radius is the classic 7.25" for chord comfort. Typical of vintage Japan, this Univox has a very thin neck- just.75" deep at the 5th fret with a flat C profile. The neck pickup, when overdriven, has some excellent sustain. Add a touch of overdrive and these beauties open up with sweet complex mids. Dual humbuckers serve up a wide range of tones- everything from sparkling cleans to warm neck tones are represented. The maple body and slightly heavier weight brings a tight'push' to the overall sound(think non-chambered LP) as well as some warm. This is a beautiful Univox Hagstrom-style example- made in the Matsumoku factory.
